Parent and Grandparent Super Visa
Stay Connected with Your Loved Ones in Canada
Are you a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident with a longing to bring your parents or grandparents to Canada for extended visits? The Parent and Grandparent Super Visa is designed to facilitate longer stays, allowing your loved ones to experience the warmth of family ties and immerse themselves in Canadian culture. Let’s explore the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa and the enriching possibilities it offers:
The Super Visa Advantage:
The Parent and Grandparent Super Visa is a multi-entry visa that permits parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for an extended period. Unlike traditional visitor visas, which are typically valid for a few months, a super visa lets you visit your children or grandchildren for 5 years at a time.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa, applicants must meet specific requirements.
- Be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
- A letter of invitation from their child or grandchild in Canada that includes proof of financial support from the sponsor.
- Proof of private medical insurance for at least one year from a Canadian insurance company or an insurance company outside Canada that has been approved by the Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship.
- Medical
Requirements from the sponsor:
The child or grandchild who invites you must prove that their household meets the minimum necessary income. The following documents are examples of what can be used as proof of funds:
- Notice of Assessment (NOA) or T4/T1 for the most recent tax year
- Employment Insurance Benefit statements
- employment letter including salary, job title, job description, and date of hire
- pay stubs
- bank statements
No Work or Study Permit:
The Parent and Grandparent Super Visa is a visitor visa and does not allow parents or grandparents to work or study in Canada during their stay. The visa is solely intended for family reunification and extended visits.
Reapplication and Renewal:
The Parent and Grandparent Super Visa is subject to regular visitor visa application procedures and fees. After its expiry, your parents or grandparents can reapply for a new Super Visa if they wish to visit Canada again.
A Pathway to Future Permanent Residency:
While the Parent and Grandparent Super Visa is a temporary visa, it provides an opportunity for you to spend valuable time with your family in Canada. During your stay, you can explore other immigration options, such as the sponsorship programs, which may offer a pathway to Canadian Permanent Residency in the future.
