Eligibility Requirements: Student Visa (F1 Visa)

It’s essential to be informed of the prerequisites for a USA student visa in advance to prevent delays. The eligibility criteria are listed below and have been provided for the students’ benefit:

  • A passport that is up to date and has a minimum remaining validity of six months following your visit.
  • Apply to a SEVP-approved school in the United States. After the SEVP-approved school accepts your enrollment, you will be registered for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and must pay the SEVIS I-901 fee. The SEVP-approved school will issue you a Form I-20.
  • DS-160 Form (Non-immigrant visa application confirmation page)
  • Payment of the application cost, Have Form I-20 handy if you’re applying for a student visa (Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant Student Status)
  • Original mark sheets or provisional certificates.
  • Score reports for standardized exams including the GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, and IELTS (6.5 or equivalent).
  • Proof that you have enough money in your bank account to cover the cost of your course in the United States for the whole term. Examples of this include Bank Statements, sponsors, and a scholarship program.
  • Evidence that the applicant plans to leave the country once the program is over.
  • The application process also includes a personal interview at a US embassy or consulate.

The length of time it takes to secure an F1 visa could vary from days to a week, depending on how complicated your case is.

Three times every academic year, students are admitted to USA colleges & universities.

  • Fall Term- From August to December
  • Spring Term- From January to April
  • Summer Term- From May to August
Requirements for USA Student Visas:
  • Valid Passport
  • Authenticated copies of your 10th, 12th, and degree certificates
  • Experience letter (If applicable)
  • Score sheet of exams like TOEFL, GMAT, IELTS, etc.
  • Form DS-160 confirmation page.
  • SEVIS Fee Receipt.
  • Interview appointment letter (Original & Copy)
  • Application fee payment receipt.
  • Photo – You will upload your photo while completing the online Form DS-160. If the photo upload fails, you must bring one printed photo in the format (22 mm and 35 mm)
  • Form I-20 sent by College.
  • Your intent to depart the United States upon completion of the course of study
  • Bank statement for at least one year showing that you have enough assets to pay for the first year (could be of parent or guardian)

  • Student visa fees are $160 per visa application & $350 SEVIS I-901 fee
